The City of Charleston’s Municipal Beautification Commission, in partnership with the Kanawha Garden Club, will host nearly a month of FREE community events celebrating The Appalachian Spring Project (TASP) — Charleston’s initiative to plant 1,000 trees and strengthen the city’s tree canopy.
As the summer season approaches, the City of Charleston Parks and Recreation Department is recruiting lifeguards to help ensure a safe and enjoyable environment at the City’s pools. In partnership with Legendary Lifeguards, eligible applicants can receive free lifeguard certification as part of the City’s effort to recruit and train the next generation of lifeguards. 
Street sweeping on Charleston’s East End will resume April 1, marking the first season with the updated parking schedule approved by City Council in April 2025.
