Due to inclement weather, all City of Charleston buildings/facilities—including City Hall and the City Service Center, Parks and Recreation centers and other administrative offices—will be closed Monday, January 6, 2025. Police, fire, and public works will report according to the direction provided by their leadership/director. All other city staff will work remotely.
City of Charleston offices will be closed December 24-25 for Christmas and December 31-January 1 for New Year’s. Refuse collection will be modified the weeks of December 23 through 27 (for Christmas) and December 30 through January 3 (for New Year’s).
The Charleston Christmas Parade was originally scheduled for December 5 and postponed due to forecasted low temperatures and wind chill. The below information was previously shared on November 27.
The Mayor’s Office of Economic and Community Development (MOECD) encourages non-profit agencies, community organizations, educational institutions and civic groups that serve low- to moderate-income individuals to apply for Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds for 2025-26. The application is available online and is due by 4 p.m. on Friday, January 31, 2025.
