TRAFFIC ADVISORY PLAN AHEAD FOR THE UC MARATHON: ROAD CLOSURES & TRAFFIC INFO

The University of Charleston Marathon will take place on Sunday, April 12, beginning at 7 a.m., bringing runners and spectators together across Charleston. Motorists traveling the morning of the race—especially those commuting across or near the race route—are encouraged to leave a little earlier than usual and plan alternate routes when possible.

MAYOR’S SUMMER YOUTH JOBS PROGRAM APPLICATIONS OPEN APRIL 6

Mayor Amy Shuler Goodwin announced that the City of Charleston will be accepting applications for the 2026 Mayor’s Summer Youth Jobs Program (MSYJP), an initiative designed to provide young people with meaningful work experience, skill-building opportunities, and exposure to careers in public service.

YOUTH ARTS 2026 CITY OF CHARLESTON JURIED EXHIBITION WINNERS ANNOUNCED

The City of Charleston Office of Public Art recognized the winners of the Youth Arts 2026 City of Charleston during an awards ceremony held at the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center. This year’s exhibition featured 162 works of art submitted by students from across Kanawha County, each evaluated by a panel of professional based on originality, creativity, overall design, and composition.

CITY ANNOUNCES 2026 TEAM UP TO CLEAN UP EVENTS

The City of Charleston will host its annual Team Up to Clean Up events on April 18 and May 2, 2026, inviting residents, businesses, and organizations to take part in a citywide effort to clean and beautify Charleston’s neighborhoods.
