The City of Charleston Parks and Recreation Department today announced registration is open for the 16th Annual Charleston Winter Series. The race series includes a 5k run/3k walk on December 15, 2024, an 8k run/4k walk on January 12, 2025, and ends with a 10k run/5k walk on February 16, 2025.
The City of Charleston Public Works Department today announced City refuse collection will be modified the weeks of Thanksgiving (November 25-29), Christmas (December 23-27), and New Year’s (December 30-January 3).
During Monday’s regularly scheduled meeting, Charleston City Council approved “Citizen Appreciation Parking.” This waives hourly parking fees at all metered on-street parking spaces on November 23, November 30, December 7, December 14, December 21, and December 28.
Mayor Amy Shuler Goodwin announced the City of Charleston has been awarded $674,501 through the Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) for the Elk River Trail Project; thanks Governor Justice and Team for helping Charleston secure the TAP funding.
In conjunction with the City of Charleston Public Works Department’s annual “Salt Parade” which allows the department to test equipment to ensure it is in working order and perform a dry run of routes – Mayor Amy Shuler Goodwin invited local students to help name the city’s snowplows.
