City Awarded GFOA Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting

The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) has awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting to the City of Charleston for its comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR) for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2019. The CAFR has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive "spirit of full disclosure" to clearly communicate its financial story. “This the 14th year that the City of Charleston’s Accounting Department has received this prestigious award,” said Tia Robertson, City Auditor. “Thank you to the Accounting Department team and the City of Charleston staff for their diligence in providing accurate and timely information. This assistance helps provide a fair representation of the financial position of the City of Charleston.”  

The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.
