Statement from Mayor Amy Shuler Goodwin regarding the 16 Federal Indictments today in Kanawha County

The streets of Charleston are a safer place to be tonight. Teams with the FBI and ATF, the Metropolitan Drug Enforcement Network Team,  Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office, the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office and the Charleston Police Department arrested some of the most dangerous individuals in our community. These operations do not happen overnight – they take time and effort. I am proud of the hard work and dedication of our law enforcement officers, support staff and those from other partner agencies.

While sometimes the work of our officers must go unnoticed in order to take part in efforts like the one being championed today, we are thrilled to be able to finally recognize the amazing work of so many.

While the hard work will continue, we firmly believe today’s action will have a major impact on drug activity in our community and we are thankful for the continued collaboration used to secure this much needed outcome.
