MOECD Public Meeting Dates

The City of Charleston/ Mayor’s Office of Economic and Community Development (MOECD) will be holding public meetings as it develops the City’s 2019-20 Annual Action Plan to guide the allocation of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and HOME funds, consistent with the City’s 2015-2019 Consolidated Plan.

An allocation of nearly $1.8 million may be available to the City for CDBG and HOME activities. The City will allocate some of its CDBG funds to non-profit agencies for activities that benefit low and moderate-income people. This is a competitive process and interested agencies must complete and submit an application. Application Technical Support

Application technical support will be offered to applicants, by request, in the MOECD offices located at 105 McFarland Street. The MOECD staff will provide step-by-step instructions on completing the application for CDBG funding each Thursday afternoon between the hours of 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. during the application process (December 27, 2018-February 14, 2019). Applications must be received by MOECD by 5:00 p.m. on or before Tuesday, February 19, 2019.  The City of Charleston offices will be closed on Monday, February 18, 2019 in observance of President’s Day.  MOECD will be open and  accepting CDBG applications on February 19, 2019 between the hours of 8a.m. to 5p.m.

MOECD will publish the City’s proposed 2019-20 Annual Action Plan project list in March 2019 and make the plan available for 30-day comment and review period. The Finance Committee will discuss the proposed project list at its second regular meeting in April 2019, City Council will take action on the Plan at its regular meeting on May 5, 2019 and the Plan will be submitted to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development on or about May 14, 2019.
