City Council Approves Funding for Vaccinated Employees
During tonight’s City Council meeting, City Council approved giving $750 to every City of Charleston employee who is fully vaccinated. Employees must have at least two doses of either Pfizer or Moderna vaccines, or one dose of Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
“The State of West Virginia is heading in the wrong direction as the number of COVID-19 cases continues to skyrocket,” said Mayor Amy Shuler Goodwin. “I applaud Council’s approval of this vaccine incentive program and urge all City employees to get the shot.”
This allocation was taken from the City’s American Rescue Plan funding to support giving either a $750 cash payment or $750 Health Savings Account contribution to eligible employees.
City employees have until October 31, 2021, to submit their vaccination cards to the City’s Human Resources Department to participate in this program.
Pursuant to State law, elected officials do not qualify for this incentive program.
