Charleston Councilman Archie Chestnut
The City of Charleston mourns the loss of City Councilman Archie Chestnut. During his two terms (2003-07 and 2015 to the present), Councilman Chestnut represented wards that included downtown and a portion of the West Side. He had also served in several leadership positions in the City under previous administrations and was one of the founders of the Smoke on the Water Chili Cook-off, which has become one of Charleston?s most popular annual events. We join his wife Rutha in mourning our loss and in celebrating the life Archie led.
