MAYOR’S OFFICE AND CFD BEGIN FOLLOW-UP CALLS, DOOR-TO-DOOR OUTREACH TO WEST SIDE RESIDENTS IMPACTED BY GAS OUTAGE
(Charleston, W. Va.) – Mayor Amy Shuler Goodwin, together with the Constituent Services Team and the Charleston Fire Department (CFD), began making calls, sending emails, checking in via social media, and going door-to-door this afternoon to follow-up with West Side residents impacted by the gas outage who have reached out to the city.
“We truly appreciate the many community partners who stepped up – and continue to do so, during this difficult time for many of our families, to help with meals, deliveries, supplies, spaces to gather, and more. Throughout the past couple weeks, our City Team – like our community partners – have fielded calls, emails, texts, and social media messages from West Side residents impacted by the gas outage. While we have worked diligently to respond to folks, help ensure folks received important information and assistance, as well as walked door-to-door to talk with residents – we are now taking this opportunity to, again, check in with folks who have reached out to us,” said Mayor Amy Shuler Goodwin. “We want to make sure folks have essential and correct information, know who to contact for resources and assistance, and help ensure they get connected with the appropriate entity to resolve any outstanding issues or request resources.”
The city continues to maintain a resources page >>> www.charlestonwv.gov/update. Included on this page is contact information for Mountaineer Gas Company’s dispatch (1.800.834.2070), contact information for the United Way of Central West Virginia (304.340.3500), meal service locations – including West Virginia Health Right, Manna Meal, and the West Virginia Black Pride Foundation, available showers – including Bream Neighborhood SHOP and the MLK and North Charleston Community Centers, and ways to request smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors.
