Mayor Goodwin Awarded Lydia Main Breaking Boundaries Award at WV Municipal League Conference
Today, Mayor Amy Shuler Goodwin was honored with the Lydia Main Breaking Boundaries Award at the West Virginia Municipal League Conference being held in Wheeling. This award, recognizing women in government, is named after Lydia Main, former Mayor of Masontown, West Virginia for 39 years.
“I am honored to be recognized by the West Virginia Municipal League for governmental leadership and to be put in the same category as Mayor Lydia Main,” said Mayor Amy Shuler Goodwin. “Her tenacity and love for Masontown is something I aspire to show Charleston each and every day.”
The West Virginia Municipal League is a statewide, nonprofit, nonpartisan association of cities, towns and villages established in 1968 to assist local governments and advance the interests of the citizens who reside within. The League achieves this directive through legislative advocacy, research, education and other services for municipal elected officials. The membership includes all 230 municipalities' population in the state.
