PARKS & RECREATION FACILITIES OPEN TO PROVIDE RELIEF FROM THE HEAT

City of Charleston Parks & Recreation facilities will be open this weekend during the forecasted high temperatures to accommodate those in need of relief from the heat.

The Kanawha City Community Center (3511 Venable Avenue), Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center (314 Donnally Street) and North Charleston Community Center (2009 7th Avenue) will be open Friday, July 19 from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Saturday, July 20 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Roosevelt Neighborhood Center (502 Ruffner Avenue) will be open Friday, July 19 from noon to 8:00 p.m.

City pools at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center and Cato Park will be open Friday through Sunday from noon to 6:00 p.m. The Kanawha City Community Center pool will be open on Friday & Saturday from noon to 6:00 p.m.  The Kanawha City Community Center pool will be closed Sunday due to a scheduled AEP power outage. City pools are free to use.
