Goodwin Announces Second Round of Small Business Investment Grant Recipients

Mayor Amy Shuler Goodwin today announced twenty businesses have been awarded Small Business Investment Grants during the second grant cycle. The funds awarded totaled $98,617.43. The third grant cycle will open in March.

“Through the first two rounds of our Small Business Investment Grants we have awarded over $175,000,” said Mayor Amy Shuler Goodwin. “These grants provide funds for improvements and marketing support for businesses that may need additional support during this difficult time.”

Businesses that were awarded funding during the second cycle include: 
Academy of Arts at January’s LLC ($5,000), Alchemy WV LLC ($5,000), Andrews Floor & Wall Covering ($5,000), Bullock Properties ($5,000), Butch Hiles Brazilian Jui Jitzu & MMA ($5,000), Capitol Center, LLC ($5,000), Echo-Lit, LLC ($5,000), Graziano’s Investment Inc. ($5,000), Hagy’s Irish Pie Pub ($5,000), Johnnie’s Fresh Meat Market ($5,000), Lolas Pizza ($5,000), New Beginning Learning Academy ($5,000), Outta Time eXcape Rooms ($5,000), Pile Hardware ($5,000), Stella’s ($5,000), The Dupont Hotel LLC ($5,000), The Linn, LLC ($4,880), The Peanut Shoppe ($3,737.43), The Shape Shop Café ($5,000) and Vandalia Donut Company ($5,000)

The scoring committee, comprised of Steve Rubin (Charleston Area Alliance), Tim Brady (Charleston Convention & Visitors Bureau), Caitlin Cook (Charleston City Council), John Kennedy Bailey (Charleston City Council) and Brent Burton (Charleston City Council) looked for projects that would enhance the image of Charleston either physically or socially, help maintain or increase current customer base or strengthen a small business’ sustainability. 

The applications for the third round of funding will become available in March.
