City refuse crews to work July 4
While just about everyone else will be enjoying Independence Day, the City of Charleston’s refuse crews will be collecting garbage and recycling as usual on Tuesday. The city’s four-day collection schedule will operate as normal this week despite the national holiday. So residents, who have their refuse and recycling collected on Tuesday, should make sure their bags are out for collection first thing Tuesday morning.
“As people in Charleston are enjoying the holiday, I hope they also will appreciate the hard-working people on our garbage trucks who will be working on July 4 along with our police, firefighters and paramedics,” said Charleston Mayor Danny Jones. “I am also grateful to the many other city employees who will be working tomorrow afternoon and evening in conjunction with the city’s Independence Day celebration at Haddad Riverfront Park.”
