City's July 4 Fireworks to Affect Traffic on Both Side of the River

The City of Charleston’s Fourth of July fireworks, happening tomorrow night (Saturday) at 10:00 p.m., will affect traffic on both sides of the Kanawha River. Starting at 4:00 p.m., Kanawha Boulevard will be closed between California Street and Court Street. The Kanawha Boulevard will remain closed through 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 5. 

MacCorkle Avenue will be closed between Porter Road and U.S. 119, starting at 6:00 p.m. Eastbound traffic to access the South Side Bridge will be permitted via Thayer and Ferry Street until 9:30 p.m. Thayer and Ferry Streets, the South Side Bridge and Loudon Heights Road between the South Side Bridge and Grosscup Road will close at 9:30 p.m. in preparation for the fireworks show. MacCorkle Avenue will remain closed until City crews are able to complete their cleanup of affected areas following the show.
