Goodwin Administration Presents FY 2023 Budget
Mayor Amy Shuler Goodwin and City Finance Director Andy Wood presented the proposed FY 2023 budget during this evening's Finance Committee meeting.
The City’s proposed FY 2023 budget includes:
- A seven percent cost-of-living adjustment for all city employees—including police and fire,
- The highest initial demolition budget on record—$500,000—to more adequately address dilapidated and abandoned structures,
- A $3 million paving budget—for the fourth year in a row,
- And, two positions in the City Collector’s Office to better serve our local businesses—including a Small Business Liaison.
“Every city employee—in every department—is essential to the continued operation of critical city services and maintaining top notch customer service for the constituents we serve. The cost-of-living-adjustment we have proposed in the FY 2023 budget recognizes the importance of our City Team and helps us to retain and recruit employees.” said Mayor Amy Shuler Goodwin. “In addition to positioning the City to be more competitive, we are focused on better serving our business community. We are proposing the addition of two new positions in the Collector’s Office—including a Small Business Liaison who will focus solely on assisting local entrepreneurs and existing businesses.”
The City’s proposed FY 2023 budget:
- does not cut or eliminate any essential city services,
- creates no new taxes,
- does not eliminate any positions or make cuts to overtime—including police, fire, and public works.
City Council will vote on the proposed FY 2023 budget at the March 21, 2022 City Council Meeting.
