Charleston Land Reuse Agency to Hold Public Meeting
The Charleston Land Reuse Agency (CLRA) will conduct a public meeting via the Zoom video conferencing service on Thursday, May 14 at 7:00 p.m. The CLRA is asking for public input generally about what redevelopment or conservation efforts citizens are interested in seeing in Charleston and more specifically regarding parcels of land at 1514 2nd Avenue and 1502 West Washington Street. The hour-long meeting will be an open-forum discussion with members of the CLRA.
“In the past seven months, the CLRA has worked hard to get up and running with an eye toward fostering redevelopment and conservation efforts,” said CLRA Chair Kevin Baker. “In addition to recommending the acceptance by the City of a large recreational area, we have received donations of two properties that are not being used but could potentially add value to their neighborhoods. In this public forum, we are hoping to gain valuable input from folks about these properties and what is needed in our communities in general. Should there be more residential housing? How about a park? We want to hear from the community.”
This meeting will serve as the first of its kind in Charleston. Per the bylaws of the CLRA, these meetings will happen at least twice each year. Although future public meetings are anticipated to be held in person, due to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) this initial meeting will be held virtually. There is no set agenda for the meeting and the public is encouraged to attend, listen, and provide input to the CLRA.
