City of Charleston to purchase four new ambulances
“These top-of-the-line 2020 model year ambulances will deliver swift and safe critical emergency services to our community members,” said City Manager Jonathan Storage. “The ambulances will permit our Fire Department EMTs to continue their record of excellence as they respond to approximately 2,800 calls per year per ambulance in the Capital City.”
“The purchase of these four ambulances provides a great benefit to the Charleston Fire Department,” said
Chief Jeffrey Jackson. “This will allow us to replace ambulances that are nearing the end of their service
life and more importantly, provide the citizens of Charleston with quality and reliable service.”
The bid price of each ambulance, with the needed add-ons, is $111,249.00 – for a total purchase price of $444,996.00. The new ambulances will be located at Station 1 on Morris Street, Station 3 on Oakwood Road, Station 6 on MacCorkle Avenue and Station 7 on Cora Street.
