CITY’S OFFICE OF PUBLIC ART IS ACCEPTING ART SUBMISSIONS FOR A YOUTH ART MONTH JURIED EXHIBITION IN MARCH
(Charleston, W. Va.)– The City of Charleston Office of Public Art is accepting art submissions from Kanawha County students, grades k-12, for a Youth Art Month Juried Exhibition at the City Service Center from March 1 – 31, 2023.
“This Juried Art Exhibition will be a wonderful way to celebrate the diverse talents of our young artists and bring greater attention to the value of art education,” said Mayor Amy Shuler Goodwin. “I look forward to seeing what our young artists create and showcasing their works.”
“We have so many young talented artists in our community,” said Jeff Pierson, Office of Public Art Director. “We look forward to showcasing their works in our City Service Center to celebrate Youth Art Month in March.”
Artists may use any medium or creation technique; however, 2D works should not exceed 18”x24” and sculptural works should not exceed 10” in depth. Artwork should be labeled as per the instructions in the Submission Guidelines and be accompanied by the form included in the Submission Guidelines. Artists whose entries are accepted will be notified prior to the exhibit opening.
Artwork can be dropped off at the City Service Center (Public Art Office or the Planning Office), 915 Quarrier Street, Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Questions regarding submissions, the Youth Art Month Exhibition, or special arrangements for submission of artwork can be directed to Jeff Pierson at Jeff.Pierson@cityofcharleston.org or 304.541.9284.
