Charleston City Council Approves "Citizen Appreciation Parking"
In Monday’s regularly scheduled meeting, Charleston City Council approved “Citizen Appreciation Parking.” This action by council waved hourly parking fees at all metered on-street parking spaces November 27, December 4, December 11, December 18, December 25, and January 1.
“With the holiday shopping season approaching, we are happy to offer free parking at all our City meters,” said Mayor Amy Shuler Goodwin. “These six dates represent key shopping days, and we hope to see a bustle of holiday traffic during this time.”
Also, during Council, City Attorney Kevin Baker gave an update on the City’s redistricting process. Three maps were presented to Council with updated ward lines based on the 2020 Census. The redistricting bill was referred to the Planning, Streets and Traffic Committee and will be discussed Monday, November 8 at 5 p.m. at the City Service Center.
