ABOUT US

We desire to balance and meet our key stakeholder’s common needs and reasonable expectations by striving to provide courteous, efficient and effective service. Human Resources provides a broad range of assistance and support to employees, perspective employees, retirees and City management through four divisions. Common forms, documents and other information can be found by selecting the desired option in the menu on the right of the page.

Payroll & Compensation: Process bi-weekly for active employees and monthly pension payroll for uniform retirees; maintains wage tables and employee rates of pay; prepares and files quarterly federal and state taxes and other reports; provides reporting and business intelligence functionally for payroll related issues; performs periodic classification and compensation reviews; and maintains employee withholding deduction allowances and records.

Recruiting & Workforce: Assists departments and hiring managers in the recruitment and selection of qualified job applicants through the development and administration of various competitive recruitment methods; conducts new employee orientations; manages and oversees personnel rules and administrative policies; provides centralized workforce assistance and other services to supervisors and employees including performance management, employee relations, and professional development.

Benefits Administration: Administers all group health, dental, vision, life and optional life policies including enrollment and benefit changes for active employees and retirees; coordinates with third-party administrators (TPAs); manages sick leave, vacation and other leave records; administers flexible spending account (FSA), deferred compensation (457) and employee assistance (EAP) plans; manages employee health and wellness center and wellness program; and prepares and files all regulatory and compliance reports.

Safety & Risk Management: Assists with facility inspections; assists with employee safety trainings; receives, processes and assists with employee incident/injury, property and casualty, and vehicle accident claims; administers and oversees return-to-work program; administers drug/alcohol testing program.
