CHARLESTON CITY COUNCIL PASSES FY2026 BUDGET

Monday, March 17, 2025

The City of Charleston FY2026 budget, presented by Mayor Amy Shuler Goodwin and Finance Director Andy Wood during the March 3 Finance Committee meeting, was approved during tonight’s Charleston City Council meeting. This budget will go into effect July 1, 2025.

PARKS & RECREATION, IN PARTNERSHIP WITH LEGENDARY LIFEGUARDS, TO PROVIDE FREE LIFEGUARD CERTIFICATION TO ELIGIBLE CANDIDATES

The City of Charleston Parks and Recreation Department in partnership with Legendary Lifeguards is providing eligible lifeguard candidates the opportunity to be certified for free so long as they are at least 15 years of age, apply to work at one of the City’s pools, and pass the Lifeguard Water Skill Evaluation.

CITY’S OFFICE OF PUBLIC ART IS ACCEPTING SUBMISSIONS FOR 2025 CHARLESTON YOUTH ART MONTH JURIED EXHIBITION

The City of Charleston Office of Public Art is accepting submissions from Kanawha County students, grades K-12, for the 2025 Charleston Youth Art Month (YAM) Juried Exhibition. Artwork will be on display from April 14-17 – with a reception and awards ceremony taking place on April 17 at the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center.
