West Virginia Symphony Orchestra Presents: Fourth of July Concert on the Levee

The West Virginia Symphony Orchestra (WVSO) returns to Haddad Riverfront Park on the Fourth of July to present a brass ensemble of patriotic music before a grand finale of fireworks.

The concert will begin at 8 p.m. and is made possible through generous support from the City of Charleston. The Symphony’s 14-piece brass and percussion ensemble will perform a program of popular patriotic and Americana classics.

“For our nation’s birthday, we are looking forward to this concert of the brass ensemble of the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra, featuring several patriotic songs and musical favorites that celebrate our nation,” said Mayor Danny Jones. “This show from the Schoenbaum Stage will have something for everyone and conclude with the fireworks by Pyrotecnico – the largest fireworks show in our region again this year. So it will be great night in Haddad Riverfront Park.”

The ensemble will present pieces ranging from marches to jazz to light classics. The evening will conclude with Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture, “Stars and Stripes Forever,” and fireworks celebrating the holiday.

Matt Murchison, a national brass clinician and highly sought after expert in brass band music, will lead the performance. "We are excited to provide an evening of light-hearted entertainment and great music against the beautiful backdrop of the Kanawha River,” Murchison said.
