The information on this page is intended to provide a general overview of event-related traffic impacts in Charleston. Closure times are approximate and subject to change. Additional road closures, parking restrictions, or other traffic impacts may occur and may not be reflected on this page.

ROAD CLOSURE

The following closures will be in place to allow for placement of a crane to support roof replacement work at the United Building. The closures will remain in place for the duration of the project.

Closure Location: 

  • Court Street: Northbound lanes and sidewalk, from Virginia Street to the parking garage exit
  • Virginia Street: Left-turn lane, from Goshorn Street to Court Street

Access:  

  • The United Bank Parking Garage will remain accessible from Quarrier Street.
  • Motorists may exit the United Bank Parking Garage onto Court Street.

TRAFFIC DISRUPTION: Kanawha Blvd & Florida St

Both eastbound lanes of Kanawha Boulevard at Florida Street are currently closed while the Charleston Sanitary Board makes emergency repairs. The duration of this closure is TBD. 

Drivers should be aware of the following traffic changes:

🚗 Kanawha Boulevard Access Road: Drivers must turn left and use Fourth Avenue or another alternate route to travel eastbound.

🚗 Bream and Stockton Streets: Drivers entering Kanawha Boulevard from these streets must turn right and travel westbound.

🚗 Florida Street: Drivers can continue to access Kanawha Boulevard westbound.

🏠 Neighborhood Access: Access to homes and businesses along the closed section of Kanawha Boulevard will be maintained from the westbound lanes. Drivers traveling eastbound will not be able to turn onto Bream Street, Stockton Street or other streets within the closure area. Those drivers should use Fourth Avenue or another alternate route to approach from the westbound direction.

🏫 Mary C. Snow West Side Elementary School: Access to the school will be maintained from westbound Kanawha Boulevard. Drivers who typically travel eastbound should use an alternate route to travel around the closure.

Please follow posted signs, use caution in the area and allow additional travel time.

  • The leftmost lane of Quarrier St, between Court St and Goshorn St (in front of 415 Quarrier St) will be closed on the following dates from 8AM - 5 PM for Early Voting.

  • Kanawha Blvd, Clendenin St to Morris St

Parade Step Off: 11 AM

Parade Route: Kanawha Blvd >> Capitol St >> Quarrier St >> Court St >> exiting onto Kanawha Blvd. 

Veteran's Day Ceremony: noon | Haddad Riverfront Park

Free Veterans Day Chili Lunch: following the ceremony | John Brawley Post 20 (415 Dickinson St)
