Refuse Collection Delay | Offices Closed Christmas Eve Day

One-day delay in refuse collection follows holidays

Tuesday through Friday shifts to Wednesday through Saturday

As a result of the Christmas Day and New Year’s Day falling on Tuesdays in the coming weeks, the City of Charleston’s Refuse Department will adjust its recycling and garbage collection schedule by one day for all customers during the weeks that include both holidays

In the days that follow Christmas and New Year’s Day, refuse workers will conduct their normal Tuesday rounds on Wednesday, run the scheduled Wednesday routes on Thursday, collect from regular Thursday customers on Friday and complete the usual Friday collection cycle on Saturday.

City of Charleston offices to be closed Christmas Eve Day

With Christmas on a Tuesday and very little city business expected on Monday, Charleston Mayor Danny announced that city offices will be closed on Monday, December 24 so most city workers will be able to enjoy the holiday more.  Emergency responders will be providing police, fire and ambulance services as usual.

State and Kanawha County offices will also be closed Monday, following similar decisions by Governor Justice and the Kanawha County Commission.
